Shimano
1973 saw the inception of Shimano's elite road racing component group, Dura-Ace. The name was derived from the duralumin alloy used in the casting process and their objective of providing the very best components available, hence the name, "Dura-Ace." Not long after it was launched the Dura-Ace group set saw stage victories at the Tour de France, and a second place at the World Championships under the famous sprinter, Freddy Maertens. In the history of componentry, no other Japanese product had seen a podium finish. Shimano had broken Campagnolo's dominance.
Today, Shimano continues in its race-bred innovation. At iBike, we carry a wide range of Shimano road and mountain components, from the professional quality Dura-Ace and XTR, to the race proven Ultegra, XT, LX and performance inspired 105 group sets.
